Brief History of Vampire Con

Since its premiere in 2010, the art house low budget independent film "Vampire in Union City", has been screened yearly in the City of Union City.  The film has become a modern day cult classic.  It is a entertaining "campy" movie which has tapped into both the fun and the gore associated with Halloween, and particularly vampires.

The annual screening is accompanied by an art show and Halloween Party.  After the 2017 screening, "Vampire in Union City" Director/Producer Lucio Fernandez engaged in a conversation with filmmaker Raul Barcelona at The Black Box Theatre in Union City.  After discussing "Vampire in Union City" at length, Barcelona suggested to Fernandez that he expand on the success of the film and create a Vampire Con.  The idea was born.

A few days later, Fernandez attended the NY Play Fair with his family and his friend Abel Toledo, a graphic artist & illustrator, and his son.  On the way in to NYC, they discussed the possibility of creating the Vampire Con.   By the end of the day, Toledo was designing the logo and Fernandez was jotting down all the specifics to creating and marketing the week-long event.  Vampire Con was born.
